Tres Amigos

I recently finished this painting entitled Tres Amigos (Three Friends). The title may be a little misleading though. It's based on a couple of ventriloquist dummies I picked up for the museum collection and reads like the 3 stages of someones life (mine?): Youth-Happiness, the Sad Clown-Despair and Death. It's also about confronting your fears, since a lot of people are afraid of ventriloquist dummies, clowns and death.

I just wanted to let you know about a new forum for artists as well as musicians, fashion designers, and filmmakers, http://www.PutItOn.com. As an artist I think that the mission is really great. The site gives you a free gigabyte of space for portfolio, there is no commission taken for sales, audio and visual works can been streamed in their entirety, you can create live personal broadcasts for your followers, and anything you write will be translated into 10 languages. So check it out!

PS. Great idea!

Great work of art. The details, colours and strokes really did justice to the eerie human-like quality of these dummies. Is this chalk pastel? And the meaning is apparent. these dummies do represent the stages of human life, and the fact that they are dummies is like saying that our human shell is akin to these dummies, long after our soul has moved on from one to another.

Mooney, thanks for your comments. This is an oil on canvas - 20 x 24 inches. I planned on doing a few others, maybe a total of three, but I've been busy with a few other projects.

I consider myself a surrealist. I love the expression. It's people like you that motivate me. I went through life with a lot of built up expressions. Society caused me to live with in the box. As any wall may fall, this one will continue to collapse. Peace
